Attorney John T. Caulfield, of counsel

John T. Caulfield, Esq., is a practicing attorney, and Of Counsel to Nealon & Associates, P.C.  His areas of expertise include congressional and other federal government investigations and litigation, corporate governance, organizational legal compliance, cyber security, financial institutions, reputational defense, risk and crisis management, law enforcement, security and government affairs matters.

Mr. Caulfield served as the General Counsel to the Capitol Police Board and the United States Capitol Police, United States Congress, for approximately 22 years before retiring from a career in federal public service in January 2007.  In addition to his duties as General Counsel of the Capitol Police, Mr. Caulfield also served as the Chief Counsel to the United States Capitol Incident Management Team, the emergency response mechanism involving the anthrax terrorist acts for the Congress, and Chief Administrator/Counsel for the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund. 

Since 1989,  Mr. Caulfield has served as a Director of the Wright-Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union where he serves on the Audit and Governace Commiitees and Chairs the Information Security Committee. Previously, Mr. Caulfield served as Counsel to the Small Business Subcommittee on Tax, Access to Equity Capital and Business Opportunities, U.S. House of Representatives and Counsel/FOIA-PA Specialist with the U. S. Small Business Administration.

Mr. Caulfield received his A.B. (Cum Laude) from John Carroll University and his Juris Doctorate from George Mason University School of Law.  He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  He is the past Chairman of the Federal Bar Association, Financial Institutions Section, Committee on Small Business Law.

Mr. Caulfield has received numerous honors over his career, including being the recipient of Special Recognition by the United States House of Representative in 2006, Recipient of the Career Service Award by the Chief of the Capitol Police, recipient of the Capitol Police Exemplary Service Award, and the Leadership Award, the highest award conferred by the Capitol Police Board.
In 2012, Mr. Caulfield was distiguished as a Corporate Governance Fellow by the National Association of Corporate Directors after completion of a concentrated course of study. Caulfield also serves on the George Mason School of Law Alumni Association Board and most recently serves as Treasuer.
